If you’re not familiar with the Tompkins Square Park Halloween Dog Parade, it is an insanely popular yearly event in the East Village of NYC. People from all over decorate their pups, and sometimes themselves to match, and trek over to Tompkins Square Park to strut their stuff.
This year, some drama surrounded the event, as it was canceled in late summer due to rising insurance and liability costs. However, about two weeks before the planned date, a civic organization, Good Old Lower East Side, came to the rescue and allowed for the parade to be moved to Corlears Hook Park this year. In my opinion, this location was much better since there was an actual stage and amphitheater seating to accommodate the large crowds.
As usual, we had tons of fun bringing in Ruby in her cute crocodile costume and meeting other pups, wearing their owner’s creative vision. Ruby even met a very strange dog that she could not figure out:

Without further ado, I bring you some of the amazing dog costumes we got to see this year:
A very good girl who is an adorable chef / spaghetti and meatballs combo. I hope she gets some for dinner tonight!
This pup is an adorable astronaut, ready to fly off into space.
A very beautiful sunflower in its own pot.
A little lobster pup!
A very cute pup-kin.
This little cow !!
A very good fire department. Makes me want to put 911 on speed dial.
A very sweet sushi pup. Too cute to eat though.
A delicious pup-kin spice latte!!
Ooh la la, this very french pup / toast.
Spotted: the magical unicorn pup!
Freddy Krueger has never looked so good. Murdering with cuteness.
If this was a REAL TSA agent, airport security would be my favorite part of any trip.
Who am I going to call? Definitely this little Ghostbuster.
I’m not sure if this pup is supposed to be a circus ring leader or just incredibly photogenic. Either way, nailed both.
Apparently Zara makes dog costumes so pups can channel their inner Melania.
Feeling very lucky after being visited by this little dragon!
And, of course, cannot forget my little crocodile pup, Ruby. Always #1 in my heart.
Thanks for checking out my recap of the Tompkins Square Park Halloween Dog Parade! I hope the pups put a smile on your face like they did for me.
